Five ways to extend your spa glow at home

A great facial or massage doesn't have to end the moment you walk out our door. The habits you build between visits are what keep skin calm and muscles loose, and our estheticians are asked about this constantly, so we put together the routine we recommend most often to Calla & Wren clients.

Start with hydration: drink water before and after any treatment, since it helps flush the toxins a massage or facial releases. Follow with a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer within a few hours of your session while your skin is still most receptive. Avoid direct sun exposure and harsh exfoliants for at least 48 hours after a facial, and give your muscles two or three days of rest before your next intense workout following a deep-tissue massage.

Finally, breathe. The calm you feel on the table is something you can recreate with five minutes of slow breathing each morning. Our therapists are always happy to walk you through a simple aftercare routine tailored to whichever treatment you book next.

This is such a helpful reminder. I always forget to moisturize right after my facials and can tell the difference in how long the glow lasts when I actually do it.

Good tip about waiting a couple of days before an intense workout after a deep-tissue session. Wish I'd known that before my last visit!
